Deconstructed Apple Pie in a Jar

Ingredients
For the apple filling:
- 6 cups (about 6–7) large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp cold water (slurry)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the crumble:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup white sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the whipped cream:
- 1 cup Scotsburn 35% Whipping Cream, chilled
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Directions
- Prepare the apples:
- In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add both sugars, cinnamon, and nutmeg, stirring until combined.
- Add apples and cook for about 10 minutes, until softened.
- Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook for another 2 minutes, until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- Make the crumble:
- In a bowl, mix flour, both sugars, and vanilla.
- Pour in melted butter and stir until large crumbles form.
- Spread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Whip the cream:
- In a chilled bowl, whip Scotsburn 35% Whipping Cream with sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Assemble the jars:
- Start with a spoonful of crumble at the bottom of each jar.
- Add a layer of whipped cream, then a layer of apples.
- Repeat until jars are full. Finish with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of crumble on top.
